My trip to Vegas did not start the off as I had planned it. A friend, who shall remain nameless, was supposed to hook me up with a flight so I didn't have to make the aweful drive across the desert. Somehow, through the chaos of my friends wedding, trip it Italy for the honeymoon and everything else he had going on, he spaced my flight. I couldn't believe it. So I hopped in the truck and made my way to Sin City.

No sooner had I rolled into town I was picking up Rich, the owner of Rockwell Timekeepers and heading to the Transworld Motocross Awards. Lemme tell ya, this was more than an awards show, this thing was a serious party. Co-hosting the event was Cameron Steele (who else would host a show like this) and SX/MX Champion Grant Langston. I am not joking when I tell you that by the time we rolled into the show, almost all of the 'talent' was completely drunk. We bounced from room-to-room, rubbing elbows with Nate Adams, Mike Mason, Jeff Alessi and a whole cast of characters. At the end of the night, a few people even walked away with awards:

Racer of the Year
Ryan Dungey
FMX Rider of the Year
Blake "Bilko" Williams
Female Racer of the Year
Ashley Fiolek
Rookie of the Year
Justin Barcia
FMX Rookie of the Year
Levi Sherwood
Female Rookie of the Year
Vickie Golden
Reader's Choice
Chad Reed
Rockstar Lifetime Achievement Award
Brian Deegan
Transworld Legend Award
Jeremy McGrath

After the awards Rich and I made our way to the house we'd be staying at for the weekend. Lemme tell ya, this was no ordinary house. Apparently it was designed by the same people who did the Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland, only it was bigger! After a short tour of the house I was guided to my room which happened to hang off the back of one seriously nice garage. This thing had a cherry 57 Cadillac and a really nice '56 Thuderbird, they were both so sweet. I must have wandered around for half an hour before I realized it was 3:30 am. 6 hours before the track walk, it was time to go to bed.

Friday was finally upon us and there was a buzz in the MGM air. It seems like forever since a bike careened around a supercross track, so I was excited. You've heard all of the race reports though, so I'll spare you the details. One thing I can say though, is it's a lot of fun to watch the mid-pack guys scramble at this race because there's so much money on the line. I watched Chris Gosselaar charge hard through pack, catching Chris Johnson and seriously rubbing elbows for a few laps. Eventually Goose blasted into Johnson in a corner and neither qualified.

Saturday night finally rolled around and I was living off about two hours sleep and a lousy breakfast at the hotel with people that looked like they had never seen a free buffet before.  I saw a guy almost hit a woman because he thought she stole his Belgian waffle!  The racing was good, and when the 80 race began, I didn't pay to much attention but then figured I should get a few photos just in case.  Well that turned out to be the best race of the weekend.  Adam Cianciarulo riding the wheels off of his Pro Circuit backed KX85 is scary fast!  He had to work his way through the pack and if he had about another two corners he probably would have won the race, but Chris Aldridge held him off for the win.

The coolest thing I though of the whole race was the return of Ezra Lusk.  Friday didn't go so well for him, but on Saturday he didn't look that far off the pace of the top guys, and unlike his last few nice-guy years, this time he wasn't afraid to bang some bars!  I had a chance to talk to him for a while, and he isn't sure if he will be on the line at A1 yet, but he would like to.  We ended up talking more about tennis since we both play, and if he does it make it out to CA for the races, we will play some tennis for sure, but I can tell you the results of that right matchup right now, I win.

Here's a batch of photos from my trip. Check 'em out and let me know what you think.
