We're not sure where the spark came from in Weimer this weekend, but it seemed to burn with a vengeance. Jake was on it all day, and his results reflected it. He never went backwards (except for his small crash that allowed Barcia and Davalos by in moto two), and either held his position or moved forward, unlike the previous 4 rounds this season. Jake now sits 10th in points after scoring a nearly perfect 47 at Lakewood.

Cooper had a rough go of it at Lakewood too, mustering only 32-8 moto finishes. In moto one, he pulled off for a bit, seemingly with bike troubles, but then regained the fray albeit in a subdued form. The 2nd moto was much better, but again, he seemed to be one of the safe guys, not charging too hard but going just fast enough to hold position.

Reed was all out of sorts at Thunder Valley. It's safe to say he never expected to battle with - and be passed by - the likes of Jake Moss, but it did happen, and was running about a Cody Cooper pace for much of the 2nd moto. Not sure what was going on with Chad, but he may have just been playing it safe on a track that could've very easily reached up and bitten him, ruining his championship run in the process. This was one of those nights where the championship couldn't be won, but it sure could be easily lost, and Reed seemed to take what he could get. He ended up 4th overall via 3-7.

Metcalfe went 7-5 and ran a fast pace, but was never a threat for the podium all afternoon.

Byrner was just OK at Lakewood, running 6-4 for 5th overall in a very quiet manner. Slowly getting back up to speed, Byrne sits 7th in points, just ahead of Cody Cooper and behind Tommy Hahn.

Short seemed fast enough all day to threaten for the win, but when he was within striking distance of Tedesco in the 1st moto he wasn't able to close the gap. In moto two, neither he nor nemesis Tommy Hahn were able to catch tedesco either, but Short ended up 2nd overall, which isn't too bad at his home track appearance.

Despite going 5-5 in the motos, Josh Grant ended up 6th overall. Not that it matters though, since points are paid per moto, not overall, and Josh left with 32 of them. He also had a bit of a run-in with the Alessi crew after getting together with Mike in the first moto. Brother Jeff confronted Josh on the line in moto two - and lined up right next to him - where the two nearly got into a fight on the starting line. Good times, good times.

Wow, now THIS was a break-out ride - Jake Moss running inside the top 3-4 in the first moto and ending up 4th - just behind Chad Reed after passing him early on. Moss was a revelation in that first moto, but unfortunately moto two ended before he completed the first lap. He came together with Justin Brayton and it's unclear whether he was injured or the bike broke, but here's to hoping for the latter...

Star Racing/ Division 7 Yamaha rider Broc Tickle was once again the team's top rider. Finishing a brilliant 3rd in the first moto, Tickle was definitely on the pace of the leaders and had everyone in the pits talking about his performance. He followed it up with an 8th in moto two after suffering a mid-pack start and moving up all moto to finish just behind teammate Matt Lemoine

Hahn was clearly feeling good in Colorado and even though his first moto wasn't all that impressive, the group he was in were all going the same pace. The 2nd moto was different though, as Tommy had Short covered but a mistake allowed him by.

Villopoto substitute Ricky Dietrich went from 20th to 13th in moto one, and 5th to 6th in moto two (after Josh Grant finally got past him toward the end of the moto). Not bad for a desert guy, he looked really good on the dark and rough 2nd moto's track.

Tedesco smoked everyone this night in Colorado, easily winning both motos and going completely uncontested for the overall win - the first 450 win of his career. Thunder Valley was also the site of his first 250 win a few years back, so it's safe to say that Ivan digs the elevation and uniqueness of this particular circuit. He looked fast and comfortable while pushing his pace the entire moto, getting out of shape only a couple of times during the night-time and dimly lit 2nd moto. It was an impressive display, and moved him into 3rd in points, 35 down from Chad Reed.

The WMX winner? Ashley Fiolek - both motos, again. The exciting part was that she didn't get the 2nd moto holeshot and had to work past Vicki Golden, who was on Trey Canard's Geico Powersports CRF250R.
