On a closing note, remember when we said Caselli was fun to watch? Well, here's an example - he didn't need to leap through this section of tight singletrack to go faster - nobody else was, including the top XC1 guys, but Kurt was. He launched off the inside to clear the roots a couple of trees further up the trail. How doesn't he do better in the GNCC series then? We'd imagine that sometimes these roots bite back.

The Final Turn

This is the last rut before the checkers, and Kanney was sharing it with Charlie Mullins. Both of these riders "got stuck" at least once (Mullins at least twice) during the race, and Kanney was stuck for so long that he felt he had zero chance of a top finish on the day. Little did he know that when he got going, he'd blow by both of the leaders as they were stuck themselves. It was great and dramatic racing for the season's finale.
